Chevrolet is making a bold move with the 2025 Colorado by consolidating its engine offerings to a single powerful option. For the upcoming model year, the midsize pickup truck will only be available with the 2.7-liter TurboMax engine. This high-output inline-four engine produces 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, the same powerhouse that was reserved for the upper trims in previous models. This decision streamlines the engine selection process for buyers while ensuring top-tier performance across all trims, from the base WT to the rugged ZR2.
This shift is expected to make the 2025 Colorado one of the most competitive trucks in its class, offering best-in-class torque while simplifying the production process. The standardization of the TurboMax engine eliminates the lower-output options, such as the base 237-horsepower engine, which was offered in previous versions.

Engine of 2025 Chevrolet Colorado
Though pricing for the 2025 model has not been officially announced, there are expectations that it could see a modest increase, similar to the price adjustments seen with GMC’s Canyon when it made a similar move. Despite potential price hikes, the performance and reliability of the TurboMax engine are likely to appeal to those looking for a versatile midsize truck with serious power and off-road capability.
In addition to the engine consolidation, Chevrolet is introducing several exciting features for the 2025 Colorado, including new accessory packages like the Midnight Edition for the Trail Boss and Z71 trims. This package includes blacked-out badging, special aluminum wheels, and off-road-ready enhancements like a roof-mounted light bar. Furthermore, Chevrolet will offer several dealer-installed accessories, such as rubber bed mats, a snorkel, and underbody shields.
While final details, including pricing and release dates, are still under wraps, production is expected to start in December 2024.
